REITMANS (CANADA) LIMITED REPORTS DECEMBER SALES

MONTREAL, Jan. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Sales in December for the five weeks ended January 1, 2011 increased 2.3% while same store sales increased 1.3%.

Sales for the fourth quarter to date, being the nine weeks ended January 1, 2011, increased 1.3% while same store sales increased 0.3%.

Sales for the year to date, being the forty-eight weeks ended January 1, 2011, were $1,018,552,000 compared with $1,003,430,000 last year.

In the fourth quarter to date, the Company opened 4 new stores and 2 were closed. Accordingly, at January 1, 2011, there were 981 stores in operation, consisting of 365 Reitmans, 161 Smart Set, 68 RW & CO., 76 Thyme Maternity, 22 Cassis, 165 Penningtons and 124 Addition Elle, as compared with 984 stores last year.
